Program Manager for Strategic Engagement, Office of Innovate Carolina
Brock Pierce orchestrates Innovate Carolina’s communications with key audiences. He works with faculty, students and staff to tell the story of innovation and entrepreneurship at UNC-Chapel Hill across many channels: executive communications and messaging, website and social media platforms, email and newsletter promotions, news stories and collateral materials. Brock has 20 years of experience working in marketing, branding and communications with global corporations, advertising agencies and in-house creative teams.
Prior to working at UNC-Chapel Hill, Brock was a senior marketing manager at SAS, where he served as the company’s principal copywriting lead and managed an internal creative team of writers and designers to promote the company’s analytics software around the world. His primary areas of focus included creative concept development, helping create the company’s voice and brand standards, launching global digital and print creative campaigns, and crafting event communications and strategies. Brock also worked in SAS’ Government & Education division to develop communications campaigns, events and PR initiatives that promoted the use of analytics at a variety of universities and federal, state and local agencies.
Prior to his time at SAS, Brock worked as a marketing coordinator at McDonald’s Corporation, where he was responsible for regional marketing plans and promotions in North Carolina. He began his career as a media planner at advertising agency McKinney, where he worked on the Audi of America client and designed multi-million dollar print and broadcast media plans for 30 major US markets. Brock earned his bachelor’s degree from the UNC School of Media and Journalism.
